Matchday 16/12/07

What drama this weekend. Featuring 2 blockbuster matches this sunday, i'm sure no one will even bother to sniff this sat night of mid table clashes.

I have decided to look at arsenal vs chelsea instead of man u vs liverpool. Why? Because i support man u and my heart goes for a man u win. But realistically, a draw will be a good result for man u when u consider past man u dreadful performances at Anfield.

Arsenal vs Chelsea is a tough one to choose. According to reports, there are a lot of uncertainties as to who's gonna be out or in. Arsenal may have their whole midfield trio of fabregas, hleb and flamini back which will be a huge boost to them. Their recent results have shown they badly missed them and if fit, anyone of this three will slot in straight away into the starting lineup. Van Persie is fit now, but i believe the return of either fabregas or hleb will truly determine the strength of Arsenal's attacking prowess...

Chelsea is dead without Drogba.

It's hard to see this game going in Chelsea's favour without knowing the art of scoring. With this gut feeling that Arsenal wont have their whole army back fully fit, i will be going for a draw this time. Arsenal has the upper hand in playing at home but believe me, Chelsea will be doing all they can to at least salvage a point from this heavy duty match.

Other tips:
(Man U to beat liverpool 3-1!!!)

Dim Sum Day

Went to this yum cha restaurant in chinatown on wednesday afternoon to have their dim sum buffet, specially recommended by sy. We took some time to search for the exact location and when we did, we didnt bother to waste any more seconds...

These were the food that were spread onto our table after only settling down a couple of mins. The waitresses just threw the food on us and since all of us ate nothing since last night, we just nodded our head whatever the waitresses gave us.

My stomach became bloated. And i have this tendency to fart when i'm too full, so i stopped.

Then came words from some asshole(i forgot who) which i so badly hoped to avoid all afternoon long.

"Oi, your birthday lai liao. Treat us LA!!"

Then i looked at everyone and all had this greedy wide grin on their faces. Of course, they supported him all the way.

Looking how happy they are with this idea, i didnt want to disappoint them. Besides, majority know me as a generous gentleman, someone who always gives but expect nothing in return. I'm definitely one of the nicest guys around.

So in the end, i had to (willingly) part 100 dollars from my bank account.

I think it's very important that i write this out to inform all my friends how generous and kind i am. There are some critics saying i'm as stingy as an elephant but with this treat comes to show how willing i am in sharing.

I definitely wont forget this treat for the rest of my whole life........

My foot sprain

Just when i thought i am finally freed from sch, come this stupid sprain to my left ankle while playing basketball on saturday. And i have to give my sunday soccer a miss the next day. I went to see chinese doc and he asked me to go back and visit him again on wed.

Left one is the injured one. It's quite obvious that the left side is swollen like the zhu jiao selling like hot cakes at my house downstairs hawker centre.

Another shot from another angle.

And do u know, my right ankle has already suffered similarly some time ago, not once, but twice while playing........ yeah basketball again!!

Matchday 09/12/07

It's been almost 1 full month since i had anything posted onto my blog. After such a long absence, i'm startin to get tired of having to update this blog. But meanwhile for this week, i still have a job to do and i will continue to fulfill it.

I will be rooting for an Arsenal loss against an underperforming middlebrough side. With almost their entire midfield injured, there isnt a better time for this weak boro team to grind out a result and have their morale lifted.

If u seriously examine Arsenal's past results, they havent been exactly on total fire. A very late 2-0 win against relegation strugglers Wigan, a very lucky 2-1 win at high flying Villa side and another tyco 1-1 draw at newcastle show that their unbeaten streak in the premier league may be under serious threat for the next few matches.

Middlesbrough, for the past few seasons, have shown that the riverside stadium is a place which big teams loathe to go to. They have won encounters against the premier league's top four there and i wont be surprised to see them emerge victorious again this time.

If u have 1 million to bet for this week, there is only one match which u can put the whole pile of money on. For every dollar bet on man u(vs derby), u get a return of a few cents. This is peanuts. But if u sell your house, your car or your girlfriend, u can expect to get back a few ten ks so it's quite worth it, isnt it???

Matchday 11/11/07

Liverpool is probably one of the most unpopular teams in epl to me but it seems like my recent tips have all circled around them.
And yesterday, i even have the audacity to part 2,500 cents from my pocket backing them to get 2 goals past some weak fulham side. Following their "super" performance against turkish ber-SHIT-tas side, i was quite adamant that that will be the spark for their next few performance(cant be for the whole season, they are lousy). In the end, i was invited to some beautiful boring football, which made me wonder just how they managed to score 8 goals during their previous match. I went to bed after only watching the first half.
I woke up the next day and realised that i was only 5 mins away from losing all my money. Everyone is saying this match as 'Bao Jiak' but it turns out that the ball is especially round for liverpool with their inconsistent performance time and again..
This week, i will go against my heart for a man u draw or a small win against a highly fancied blackburn side. Everyone has been raving about how good blackburn is but truth is, i think they are just another liverpool style football club. Long balls flying here and there everywhere, i'm not very impressed with the way they play their football. But boring they can be, as a whole they are a very solid and tenacious team, which makes them hard to beat. Against a man u side now deprived of rooney's service, i dun think anyone will be expecting another four goal haul again.
I hope the player who's gonna replace rooney will make me eat my tip this week. But until then, a blackburn draw isnt exactly hard to contemplate.

Disappointing week

My performance has been quite demoralising recently. A run of 2 incorrect predictions have seen ppl wield the axe on me and turn to my frens like ah tay from xin min re pao and some stupid soccer-predicting program from new paper.

So what i want to say is, i have decided to take a break this weekend. No more accurate, but hey, no more wrong tips either..

(Actually, if u still insist that i put up my tips for this week, of course i will be thinking abt the big match Arsenal vs Man U. With both teams so free-scoring and powderful now, i sense a high tempo draw is in the pipeline with both sides capable of scoring goals. Therefore, choice of total goals 4,6 will be quite a good one. With rooney, ronaldo and fabregas in red hot form at the moment, back them to score in this match. And Arsenal always has this knack of scoring late late goals, particularly against Man U, so go for some toure, gallas or senderos to deliver the goods during set pieces in the dying mins. Again, believe what i juz mentioned at your own risk. Remember my luck hasnt been good recently so until that has changed probably juz take my words with a pinch of salt for now......)

KTV marathon!!! (Part 1)

Just last week i had this 2 day marathon ktv birthday parties for 2 of my classmates, Kenneth and Kok Haw.

First up, we went to this ktv in chinatown on sunday night. It's located at a street call Smith Street and it's the cheapest ktv i have ever been to(come to think of it i have only been to kbox.) - just 10 dollars. Not only that, it comes with free flow of drink and a shark fin look-a-like soup (actually it's some soup with vermicelli). The ambience around was not too different from what u can get in kbox. And i have to mention this. They have lots of english songs which u cant find in kbox so perhaps this will bring another option to english singers.

I have known Kenneth for almost 8 years already. We had been classmates not just in sec 1 and 2, but also sec 3 and 4 (he's the only guy from my lower sec class to go same class with me.). Thinking back, we had a lot of fun and comical moments together. But sadly i was sucked into the lure of street soccer during sec 4 so i think we didnt talk as much as we used to after that. I dun think he has changed a lot over the years, still the same loyal trustworthy guy, but probably with bit more curry, chili and spice to his life(He's a clubber!! but not sure he still go there nowadays).

Overall, it was a simple but very fun affair. I thoroughly enjoyed it and i guessed everyone feel the same way too.

i'm goin to bed now since i am having the new balance run early in the morning tomorrow. Will be back with more..............................

Matchday 28/10/07

Ok i must admit that i was lucky not to have place any of my tips for epl saturday night. I was quite tempted into taking the underdogs again (man city ending chelsea's home record and boro avoiding a thrashing from man u), but after witnessing how these sides stuttered against their bigger opponents, i just feel that it may not be a bad idea that i focus all my attention on the liverpool vs arsenal match for this week.

Contrary to what everyone will be expecting, i am going for a liverpool win this time (surprise??). Ok ok. i am backin that partly because i wan to see man u climb up the standings faster. But of course, i'm not going to waste all your money based on that (i know how hard u all earn ur money).

First and foremost, arsenal has been winning too many games. Sometime someday that has to end somehow right? So much hype has been said about arsenal's sublime game play and arsene wenger's tactical astuteness. But frankly, arsenal probably has the thinnest squad depth among the top four and i find their game not really up there with the team which went unbeaten a few seasons ago.

Talking about liverpool, i dun think i have much to say. Dull, stale, monotonous, boring are some of the words u can describe them. There have been lots of speculation about the wily old fox benitez, but i genuinely believe he will stop the rot of defeats his side has suffered recently and hit top gear tml.

I'm quietly confident about how this match will end. If i have a chance tml, i wont mind placing some bucks on it.

Matchday 20/10/07

After a week of international football, it's back to epl again. This time, i have a feeling there may be a few surprises....

I'm not going to exactly say which teams are going to be in for a shock but international football will definitely take a toll on the conditions of players in bigger clubs. Travelling long distances results in jetlag. Playing for your own country is something u take pride in. These factors essentially require more commitment and focus than weekly club football so dun be alarmed to see bigger clubs like chelsea and liverpool suffer in this case.

This week i'm going for something bolder than usual. I'm backing birmingham to at least grab a point from city of manchester because the lack of international football in their squad will make them fresher compared to city's. The star performers for city (Elano, Petrov and Richards) have all played tough international games. Petrov full 90 mins in albania, elano long trip from brazil and of course, richards on the gruelling pitch in russia. These will adversely affect their performances coming tomorrow, so watch out for birmingham.

I also believe that liverpool will not take 3 points from everton(maybe 3 red cards will be a possibility). So i am going for another liverpool draw cos i always believe that boring teams are normally draw specialist. 1-1 for them.

And surely, villa will get whacked by man u.

Hot news: Triumph wins the day!!!

Before i go into my weekly predictions again, i saw this straits times article which should have made the headline in the newspaper.

Triumph, the smashing lingerie company, will be arranging 2 hrs of the last friday of every month to be a 'Guys-only' shopping. This means no more discomfort for guys when they step into the shop, guess the size of the cup or even play with the straps....

Most of u by now will probably be laughing their heads off or accusing me of being yellow minded.. Hey, i am being serious now. If u compare this to the rising property prices or the cpf issue, i believe this piece of fantastic news has a bigger impact cos it's going to affect half of the population, and indirectly the other half(which means whole singapore will be involved).

Looking at the long term, this innovative idea by Triumph will no doubt help to push up the birth rate in singapore (Govt always complain no babies, now Triumph will be the perfect role model for ideas...). By buying such lovely stuffs for their partners, girls will realise a new dimension in the sex appeal of modern guys (what do u think?). This will prepare both parties for more romantic nights and ultimately, babies and marriage.

Triumph has made the whole singapore excited again. But of course when good things come, bad ones dun go away too. After the 2 hours triathlon, be prepared to see bra cups "depressed", holes in underwear and even broken straps. This is the hard work of , not inexperienced guys, but dirty perverts (u not me) who will toil every precious second inside. That, Triumph will have to closely monitor and catch the bastardsss......

Matchday 13/10/07

After last week's liverpool match, i started to receive more and more phone calls. Most called to thank me for the tip and they were equally happy with the big bucks they have won. Some heralded me as "The Next Big Thing" while others said since mourinho had left epl, the title "The Special One" should belong to me now. Well, good things come to u when u achieve success.

It's very flattering to have all this attention, and when u do let it get into your head, u become complacent and think that u r the next big f*** around. Sorry. Friends of mine will know that i'm a person who keeps both feet firmly to the ground, so i wont get carried away by my new idol status. But of course, i wont mind basking in all these attention for a while......

It's a bit sad there's no epl this weekend, which means most ppl will probably stay up to watch only the England vs Estonia match(10pm). But i am goin to divert the attention onto England's neighbour, Scotland, where they will try to prove their credentials as potential Euro 2008 quality product. I will be going for a scotland win because u can feel that there's this sense of optimism in the scotland camp that they can go all the way after beating France in the last match. Personally, i hope either Italy or France will get knocked out cos it's so boring to see every tournament having the same big teams over and over again. (This applies for epl too. I hope lousy liverpool get out of the top 4 and give the chance to more entertaining teams.)

I dun like international matches as it's very unpredictable and odds are extremely low for those straightforward ones. So i will suggest punters to change to 4D or toto this weekend and wait for the next round of epl.

Matchday 07/10/07

My tip for today's matches will be taking a draw for liverpool vs spurs. Both clubs have not been impressive in their recent matches.

For liverpool's last 4 matches, they have managed only one scrappy win, 2 draws and the most recent champions league defeat to marseille. But having said that, spurs have been far more unconvincing in the epl and are currently languishing in the relegation zone. However, i am backing spurs to take the game to liverpool because their winless streak has been absolute rubbish and far too long.

But keeping in mind that liverpool are playing at home, i believe a draw will be a fair result to both. Bet with caution though. A draw is never a certainty which explains the high odds..

Good luck.

Matchday 06/10/07

Ok. i know what u all are goin to say.

YOUR TIPS SUCK LOSER!!!

LOUSY SHIT!!

KNN!!!!!!!!

But wait. At least give me chance to explain la..

I chose chelsea to beat the handicap of -1 1/2 agst fulham last week which sadly ended in a dull 0-0 draw. But did u all watch the match or at least read the match report? Drogba was sent off! Terry was injured midway during the match. I'm not going to use terry's injury as an excuse for my mis-prediction. But drogba's dismissal is a satisfyingly valid reason. 10 man vs 11 man? That's unfair. My tip was based on a 11 vs 11 case. As what they say, the ball is round. But in this case, it is square.... So rightfully, last week's prediction should not be counted...

I have to admit la, i'm starting to feel some pressure by u all people who depend on my tips. Because of this, it's been tough for me these few days.
I cant sleep and eat well.
I dreamt of families broken up because of betting.
I dreamt of people hanging themselves.
I dreamt of drunkards running to the road to get bang by cars.

It's about time i end this misery.

I will step up my research for this week's match.
Dun worry. I promise 11/06/07 will be one smashing day when u all reap the benefits of my predictions. U can happily laugh your way to the bank soon....

I will be back with my tips. So dun go away..

Heartbroken

Ok i know this is wrong. But people, next time if u wan to visit the dentist, think twice. Cos it's indeed a very very costly mistake..

People say visit the dentist every 6 months. So after 6 years, i decided it's about time i visit one.
But in the end.......

Haha.. Ok never mind if u cannot see clearly. But if u try to strain your eyes on this bill, or use some ultra adobe technology, this bill states $123.05. Oh. And if u strain your eyes further, you can see the cost for the respective dental services.

Consultation $26.75
Scaling/Root Planning $32.10
Polishing $32.10
X-ray $32.10

As u can see, besides scaling(dunno wat is that) and x-ray, seeing a dentist can easily set u close to $60 off.

Anyway, why i did a x-ray is because the doctor said i have one wisdom tooth comin out. Here's the picture..

As u can see again, notice the bottom left tooth a bit come out compared to the rest. Yup thats my wisdom tooth. He advised me to take it out. But of course the cost comes into mind again.

So besides the cpf issue, i have found one more problem for all u diehard singapore complain-kings to complain. Good luck. I go sleep liao..

Soccer Matchday: 29/09/09

Seriously wassup with all the hooha over the sacking of mourinho???

True, epl has lost quite a charismatic guy who sometimes, seem more interested in bickering with his fellow counterparts than playing football matches. But with the players and money at his disposal, the team plays surprisingly lousy football, accompanied by lousy results (lots of 1-0 wins). Isnt it better for someone to take over and make some major changes to the way they play?

During the match against man u, i thought chelsea played some better football than the mourinho's era. The players displayed more flair in their play, individually more adventurous with the ball themselves. This will promise goals, but of course, theres always chances of leaking too...

Grant may be tactically inferior to mourinho. But it's the players who determine most of the results, not managers. In tight matches, decisions made my managers will be crucial. But in a match like chelsea vs fulham, surely u cant argue that this can be regarded as tight in terms of quality of players?

So, my this week's best bet will be chelsea -1 1/2. Playing at home, fresh from a 4-0 thrashing of some lousy team a few days ago, and of course playing entertaining football again, wont make that hard to beat. Mind you, singapore pools is even offering quite a sumptuous opening odds of 2.10. U wont get such odds last season for a top team playing against an at-most middle table team. Forget abt all the hype around mourinho, the perceived doom-to-failure Grant, Chelsea will come out winning, with a margin of at least 2 goals to show for all their qualities.....

And of course, go for man u win agst lousy birmingham... Sure thrash.

Greetings to all

hello everyone. yeah u may be surprised to see that a person like me can actually start a blog. well in fact, i have actually started a blog in friendster last time but ended up deleting it away due to lack of interest after only putting up 3 posts. ya u can call it something like 3 mins boiling point. hope this time round i will have more energy to put up more.

What am i going to write for my blog u may ask. Well, almost anything out of the world's everything. From politics to science, history to geography, soccer to golf, pasir ris to jurong or even chicken rice to kway chup, i will intrigue u with some of my most extraordinary 'shallow' analysis of daily happenings. Dun worry pls. i hope after reading through my blog u will find the stuffs informative enough for your projects and presentations. (i can let u use my quotes for your presentations. Wont charge u for copyright infringements.)

One thing which i hope i can promise to u all will be my Weekly Ah Hao football prediction. Bet u wont go wrong with my 'sure zhun' predictions. People used to call me king of bookie not for fun one ok... Ignore those so called experts like shaggy singh or tohari paikia. Their truly out of depth analysis wont get u anywhere. Your answer is here, so watch out for it everyweek......

All right. That should be enough to keep u all coming back next time.
